= Aunty's Shishito Pepper Garden with Lucky Gecko =
The Shishito Peper is small and finger-long,
slender, and thin-walled. Although it turns from green
to red upon ripening, it usually harvested while green. About one out of every ten peppers is
spicy. Mild, Mild, Mild, Hot!... The hit of heat
and suspense are addicting.
Heat sesame oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high
Heat, and cook the peppers, occasionally turning,
until they begin to blister on all sides. Sprinkle with
a bit of brown sugar, sake and soy sauce.
They are ready to enjoy!
Flour Sack Towels - History
From the 1850s to the 1950s, everything from flour, sugar, chicken, feed, sausage, and even voting ballots were packaged in tightly woven cotton bags known as "Flour Sack." Thrifty housewives would wash and bleach the sacks, then cut and sew underwear, pillow cases, toys, dress and what was used most, kitchen towels from them. Their popularity passed down from mother to daughter.
